West of the town of Sonoma, Grebnikoff Vineyard sits on the gentle undulating hillsides southeast of Sonoma Mountain. Interplanted with Merlot and Chardonnay, the Dowdell Creek runs down the base of Sonoma Mountain and parallel to the vineyard, eventually intersecting into the Sonoma Creek. The soils are full of gravelly alluvium that is high in quartz from the sedimentary rocks deposited through the Dowdell Creek.
Merlot was 25% whole cluster, 25% crushed and destemmed, and 50% direct pressed. The Chardonnay was destemmed and lightly pressed, and the skins were added to the Merlot in an open top stainless fermenter. Manual bi-daily punchdowns. Aged in French Neutral Oak for 11 months. Racked twice.
No additions or subtractions. Unfined, unfiltered, zero SO2.
